Is this your actual   situation of  Construction- progress?

This situation could have developed from e.g. one of the following actual progress curves:

Situation I

Contractor has started late and progress is less than planned.

Possible reasons:

  • late engineering
  • late procurement
  • not enough manpower on site
Posssible results:
  • claims from follow up contractors
  • late mechanical completion
  • financial losses
Situation II

Contractor did start in time. Progress is falling behind.

Possible reasons:

  • process changes
  • design- engineering changes
  • late deliveries
  • shortage of manpower
Posssible results:
  • Same as situation I.
  • Process and design changes would lead to additional claims of contractors and / or contract changes.
  • Shortage of manpower of construction contractor could lead to split up of contracts.
Situation III

Contractor has started late but progress is picking up.

Situation at this moment looks o.k.

Situation IV

Contractor did start early. Progress now is  tending to sero.

Possible reasons:

If there are no financial problems of client  this could indicate company problems of subcontractor.

To minimize delay of  mechanical completion, possibly contracts discussion have to be started again.

Situation most critical.
